National Executive Sr. and Jr. UOL Boards Hold Meetings!

The Junior and Senior National Executive Boards of the Ukrainian Orthodox League gathered in Carteret, NJ on October 22nd for the first national meeting of the year.  The day began with a Moleben served by His Grace Bishop Daniel, Spiritual Advisor to the Senior UOL, Protopresbyter Taras Chubenko, pastor of the St. Demetrius Cathedral, and Rev. Deacon James Cairns.  His Grace Bishop inspired the gathering with a reflection to realize and accept the miracles that we currently enjoy instead of continually pining for the miracles we think are needed.

After breakfast and an opening prayer, the Junior and Senior Boards began their deliberations. This was the first chance for the Boards to meet face-to-face since the 64th Annual Convention in Philadelphia, PA this past July.  The fall meeting is extremely important as these deliberations chart the course for the year, so both Boards had a full agenda of topics to discuss.

One of the most important initiatives the UOL is currently tackling is membership, as we are consistently trying to foster the creation of new chapters within parishes around the diocese.  We have focused our efforts on an personal level, asking members of the UOC of the USA if they are part of the Bigger Picture: http://uol.orthodoxws.com/images/biggerpicture.jpg Membership in the UOL is vital if individuals are committed to ensuring our Holy Ukrainian Orthodox Church continues to exist in these trying times.
