As the bright Feast of Feasts - Holy Pascha, the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - draws near, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States of America opens wide her charitable arms, becoming once more a living witness to the Gospel of love, sacrifice, and resurrectional hope.

In these sacred and solemn days, when the Church prepares to proclaim “Christ is Risen!”, a different proclamation is already being lived: Christ is present - in compassion, in generosity, in the breaking of bread, and in the sharing of Paschal joy with those who suffer.

In cooperation with the clergy of the Donetsk Eparchy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, and with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Serhii, a monumental act of mercy has been accomplished: 5,000 blessed pasky and Paschal gifts have been prepared and delivered to: refugees and displaced families, children and orphans, widows and the elderly, the wounded and suffering and most especially, men and women defending Ukraine on the front lines

This offering of 5,000 pasky becomes more than a charitable act - it becomes a living icon of the Gospel miracle: “Then Jesus took the loaves… and distributed them to those who were seated… as much as they wanted.”(John 6:11)

Reflecting on this sacred connection, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel teaches: “When the Church feeds the hungry, she does not merely give bread - she reveals Christ. Just as the Lord multiplied the loaves to feed the five thousand, so today the offering of these paska breads becomes a miracle of love - multiplied through the hands of the faithful, reaching hearts in need of hope.”

Indeed, as those on the ground testify: “Pascha is already very close - and in these days we are working almost without rest, like one great, well-coordinated mechanism of goodness. We are bringing Paschal joy to those places where it is so greatly lacking…”

At humanitarian hubs, the reality is sobering. People arrive having lost everything - homes, security, even loved ones. They come in silence, often without tears left to shed.

But something sacred happens when they receive a blessed paska.

“And in that very moment, everything changes… Smiles appear on their faces—warm, sincere, real. As if, for a brief moment, people return to a time when their homes were filled with the fragrance of the feast…”

One small child, tasting the sweet bread of Pascha, whispered to his mother: “How sweet and delicious it is…”

She said nothing - only smiled. And in that silent smile was contained the entire mystery of Pascha: suffering touched by hope… sorrow transformed into light.

Particularly moving is the joy of children, who receive not only food - but a memory of normalcy, of celebration, of love. For many, this will be their only Paschal gift. And yet, through the Church, they are reminded: that they are not forgotten, that Christ is with them, that joy, even now, is possible

Perhaps most profound is the outreach to those in the “gray zones” of the front lines - places where: roads are destroyed, humanitarian vehicles cannot pass, danger is constant. And yet - even there - Pascha arrives.

In an extraordinary witness of ingenuity and love, drones now carry Paschal gifts to soldiers: delivering blessed pasky, bringing requested essentials - even simple things like carbonated drinks, carrying with them a message stronger than any weapon: You are not alone. You are loved. Christ is with you.

As Archbishop Daniel reflects: “There is no distance that can separate us from love - not even the distance between safety and war. When a soldier receives a piece of blessed bread in the darkness of the front line, he receives not only sustenance - but the presence of Christ Himself, the Bread of Life.”

“Every blessed paska that we offer to our people is not merely bread, but a testimony that Christ lives among His people. Even amidst ruins and suffering, the Resurrection is already at work—in love, in sacrifice, in the willingness to share even the last that we have. Wherever this love is present, Pascha has already begun.” - Metropolitan Serhii, Donetsk Eparchy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine

To each of them, the Church proclaims with gratitude: Your offering is a miracle.

Because of you: Pascha reaches the refugee; Pascha embraces the child; Pascha strengthens the soldier; Pascha comforts the grieving.

As the Church prepares to sing the triumphant hymn: “Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death by death…”this truth is already being lived - in bread shared, in tears transformed, in hope restored.

Five thousand pasky. Five thousand acts of love. Five thousand witnesses that even in the shadow of death - life prevails.

Pascha is not only celebrated in churches - it is carried into the world.

And in Ukraine today, through sacrifice and compassion, the Resurrection is being proclaimed - not only with words, but with deeds.

Пасха - Свято Воскресіння - приносить світло на передову України

З наближенням світлого Свята свят - Святої Пасхи, Воскресіння Господа і Спасителя нашого Ісуса Христа - Українська Православна Церква Сполучених Штатів Америки широко відкриває свої благодійні обійми, знову стаючи живим свідченням Євангелія любові, жертовності та воскресної надії.

У ці священні та урочисті дні, коли Церква готується проголосити: «Христос воскрес!», уже звершується інше проголошення: Христос є присутній - у співчутті, у щедрості, у ламанні хліба та в діленні пасхальної радості з тими, хто страждає.

У співпраці з духовенством Донецької єпархії Православної Церкви України та з благословення Його Високопреосвященства Митрополита Сергія було здійснено величний акт милосердя: 5,000 освячених пасок і пасхальних дарів було підготовлено та передано: біженцям і внутрішньо переміщеним особам, дітям і сиротам, вдовам і людям похилого віку, пораненим і стражденним, а особливо - чоловікам і жінкам, які захищають Україну на передовій.

Ця жертва 5,000 пасок стає більше ніж благодійною справою - вона стає живою іконою євангельського чуда: «Ісус узяв хліби… і роздав тим, що сиділи… скільки хто хотів» (Ін. 6:11).

Роздумуючи над цим духовним зв’язком, Його Високопреосвященство Архієпископ Даниїл навчає: «Коли Церква годує голодних, вона не просто дає хліб - вона являє Христа. Як Господь помножив хліби, щоб нагодувати п’ять тисяч, так і сьогодні принесення цих пасок стає чудом любові - примноженим через руки вірних і досягаючим сердець, що потребують надії».

Як свідчать ті, хто служить на місцях: «Пасха вже зовсім близько - і в ці дні ми працюємо майже без перепочинку, як один великий злагоджений механізм добра. Ми несемо пасхальну радість туди, де її так бракує…»

У гуманітарних центрах реальність є болісною. Люди приходять, втративши майже все - дім, безпеку, навіть близьких. Вони приходять мовчазні, часто вже без сліз.

Але щось святе відбувається, коли вони отримують освячену паску: «І саме в цей момент змінюється все… На обличчях з’являються посмішки - теплі, щирі, справжні. Наче на мить люди повертаються до того часу, коли вдома пахло святом…»

Один маленький хлопчик, скуштувавши паску, прошепотів матері: «Яка вона солоденька і смачненька…»

Вона нічого не відповіла - лише усміхнулася. І в цій усмішці була вся таїна Пасхи: страждання, торкнуте надією… скорбота, преображена у світло.

Особливо зворушує радість дітей, які отримують не лише їжу, але й пам’ять про нормальність, про свято, про любов. Для багатьох це буде єдиний пасхальний дар. І водночас через Церкву вони відчувають: вони не забуті, Христос з ними, радість можлива навіть тепер.

Особливо глибоким є служіння тим, хто перебуває у «сірій зоні» передової - там, де зруйновані дороги, де не можуть проїхати гуманітарні автомобілі, де небезпека постійна. І все ж - навіть туди приходить Пасха.

У надзвичайному свідченні винахідливості та любові дрони доставляють пасхальні дари воїнам: освячені паски, необхідні речі - навіть такі прості, як газовані напої. І разом із цим вони несуть послання сильніше за будь-яку зброю: ви не самі… вас люблять… Христос з вами.

Як зазначає Архієпископ Даниїл: «Немає такої відстані, яка могла б відділити нас від любові - навіть відстані між миром і війною. Коли воїн отримує шматок освяченого хліба у темряві передової, він приймає не лише поживу - але Самого Христа, Хліб Життя».

Також Митрополит Сергій, Донецька єпархія ПЦУ, свідчить: «Кожна освячена паска, яку ми передаємо нашим людям, - це не лише хліб, але свідчення того, що Христос живе серед Свого народу. Навіть серед руїн і страждання, Воскресіння вже діє - у любові, у жертовності, у здатності ділитися останнім. Там, де є ця любов, там уже починається Пасха».

Ця священна місія стала можливою завдяки щедрій підтримці: Української Православної Церкви США, Товариства святого Андрія Первозванного під проводом протодиякона Ігоря Махлая, а також численних вірних, доброчинців і жертводавців.

Кожному з них Церква проголошує з вдячністю: ваша жертва - це диво.

Завдяки вам: Пасха приходить до біженця; Пасха обіймає дитину; Пасха укріплює воїна; Пасха втішає скорботного.

І коли Церква готується співати: «Христос воскрес із мертвих, смертю смерть подолав…» ця істина вже звершується - у поділеному хлібі, у сльозах, що стали світлом, у відродженій надії.

П’ять тисяч пасок. П’ять тисяч актів любові. П’ять тисяч свідчень того, що навіть у тіні смерті - перемагає життя.

Пасха - це не лише святкування у храмах. Вона виходить у світ. І сьогодні в Україні, через жертовність і співчуття, Воскресіння проповідується не лише словами, але й ділами.
