UOC of the USA Continues to Deliver Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine

УПЦ США Продовжує Надавати Гуманітарну Допомогу Україні

As the world-wide community continues to watch in horror the images of brutal destruction of infrastructure of Ukraine and the violation of human rights and the slaughter of innocent people by the actions of the Russian Federation against the people and nation of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA continues to offer basic humanitarian support to those in need.

Due to the generosity of the clergy, faithful and friends of the UOC of the USA, the Church was able to raise over 1.9 million US dollars in support of the basic needs of survival of the people of Ukraine.

Most recently, the Church delivered additional eight emergency medical vehicles in support of the needs of Ukrainian hospitals. These vehicles, in addition to those that were directly provided by the parishes of the UOC of the USA, were purchased in Germany and Poland and delivered to St. Michael’s Monastery of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Kyiv. His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine blessed the eight emergency vehicles on Tuesday – May 3, 2022 and delivered them to Bucha and Irpin regions of Kyiv District for the purposes of medical hospitals in the area. In addition to those ambulances, ten minivan automobiles were purchased by the UOC of the USA and adopted for medical purposes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Most recently, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel traveled to Krakow, Poland in order to oversee the purchase of the adopted emergency vehicles and due to the cooperation with local charities and volunteers from Ukraine, delivered the most necessary medical supplies and vehicles to Ukraine.

While the archbishop traveled to Poland, His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, assisted by Rev. Fr. Vasyl Pasakas, met with the Taiwanese Christian community of NJ that on behalf of the local doctors delivered several pallets of medical supplies for the hospitals in Ukraine. Fr. Vasyl Pasakas, assisted by the seminarians of St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Theological Seminary supervised the packaging and transfer of the medical shipment to Ukrainian Medical Hub in Lviv, Ukraine.

The Church continues to provide financial assistance to the residents of the destroyed and damaged suburban areas of Kharkiv. Due to the cooperation with the local Kharkiv based volunteers, under the leadership of Valerii Bychkov, the UOC of the USA is able to offer financial support and logistical purchase of the most necessary food and medical supplies for the elderly and displaced people of the Eastern part of Ukraine.

While the world watches the images of the destruction, and refugees fleeing Ukraine for the neighboring European nations, the most vulnerable individuals remain in the medical institutions in the most dangerous parts of Ukraine. Due to the cooperation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA and the Donetsk and Mariupol Metropolia of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, under the leadership of Metropolitan Serhiy, the Church was able to offer medical assistance to the Cancer Treatment Facility for Children in the city of Dnipro, Ukraine.

His Eminence Archbishop Daniel, working closely with Metropolitan Serhiy, purchased, and delivered on behalf of the Church food and medical supplies for the lactose intolerant children and individuals in several hospitals throughout Dnipro region.
