Representatives of various Ukrainian Community Organizations of Greater New York area gathered at the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York City for the formal observance of the 26th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.
His Eminence Metropolitan Antony and Archbishop Daniel, assisted by Very Rev. Fr. Volodymyr Muzychka of St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in New York City, NY attended the evening reception and greeted the entire Consulate Diplomatic Corps with the celebration of Ukraine’s Independence in the time of political and economic trials.
Opening the event with introductory remarks, Consul General Igor Sybiga thanked the Ukrainian Diaspora for their investment in the development of various economic, political and cultural projects in Ukraine. In particular, Consul General expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA for their constant concern and efforts in the process of addressing various ecclesiastical and charitable projects in Ukraine.
Metropolitan Antony led everyone in attendance in prayer, concluding with the exclamation for Many Blessed Years to Consul General Igor, his wife Natalia and their daughter Doroteia Sybiga, as they conclude their diplomatic mission in the United States of America. Various representatives of Ukrainian Diaspora Organizations presented Consul General Sybiga with memorable gifts.
The evening event concluded in several hours of friendly discussions among the leaders of the community Central organizations.
