March - LUBA Feature: Women's History Month
March - LUBA Feature: Women's History Month

The life of women in the Church is rich and vast. There are many ways in which we, as Orthodox Christians may honor women during Women's History Month.

  • Honor the women in your life this month. Write the stories of your mothers, grandmothers, sister, and daughters for generations of your family to come. Hold a parastas for the women in your family.

  • Learn about the history of the women in your parish and their work on behalf of the Lord. Publish short stories each week in your bulletin about these extraordinary women. Choose one of these stories to be sent to the Consistory to be highlighted on our social media network. Hold a parastas for the women of your parish.

  • Learn about and be aware of the women saints within the Church. Offer a workshop/discussion after Divine Liturgy to discuss these saints and how they influence our life today.

  • Celebrate an Akathist to the Mother of God or a female saint in honor of the women of your parish. Keep fresh flowers under the icon of the Mother of God throughout the month.

  • Place an article/ad in your local newspaper for Women's History Month, highlighting the Mother of God, a saint or the inspiriting story of a parishioner.

  • Conduct an appreciation lunch for all the women of your parish and local community.

  • Provide a women's health clinic for all in your community.

  • Honor a woman in your community who helps others.
