Beloved in the Lord,

 

It is with broken hearts and prayerful sorrow that we share the tragic news of the falling asleep in the Lord of Iryna, the beloved sister of Very Rev. Fr. Heorhij Tyapko of Holy Archangel Michael Ukrainian Orthodox parish in San Francisco, CA, and her young son Heorhij - innocent victims of a Russian missile strike that targeted the city of Kyiv during the dark hours of the night.

 

On behalf of His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, and together with the Council of Bishops, clergy, and the entire faithful flock of our Holy Church, I express our profound and tearful condolences to Fr. Heorhij, his family, and all who mourn this unthinkable loss.

 

This violent and unjust war continues to claim the lives of our people - our mothers, our children, our brothers and sisters. The pain we feel today is unprecedented, as it pierces the heart not only of one family but of the entire Body of Christ. The loss of Iryna and her son Heorhij is not merely a private sorrow - it is a wound upon the soul of our Church, a cry echoing from the very Cross of our Savior.

 

And yet, in the depths of our grief, we cling to the hope of the Resurrection, for our Lord has trampled down death by death. Though we grieve, we are not overcome, for Christ has opened the gates of Paradise to those who put their trust in Him.

 

To you, dear Fr. Heorhij, and to your grieving family, we extend our arms in love, prayer, and solidarity. You are not alone in this suffering. Your tears are our tears, your loss is our loss, and your hope must be our hope. The Holy Church is with you - as is the Mother of God, who knows the pain of losing a Son, and whose holy veil now shelters the souls of your sister and her son.

 

May the All-Merciful Lord, Who receives the souls of the righteous, embrace Iryna and her child Heorhij in the heavenly light of His Kingdom, where there is no sorrow, no sighing, but life everlasting. And may He grant strength and consolation to their surviving loved ones.

 

Let us, as the Church of Christ, fall to our knees in prayer, crying with the Psalmist: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints” (Psalm 116:15), and let us not cease to call upon the Lord: “Memory Eternal! Вічная Пам’ять!”

 

 

 

 

 

Із болем в серці та молитовним сумом ділюся трагічною вісткою про спочинок у Господі Ірини, сестри протоієрея Георгія Тяпка (настрятеля Української Православної парафії Святого Архангела Михаїла в Сан-Франциско, штат Каліфорнія), та її сина Георгія – невинних жертв російського ракетного удару, який був спрямований на місто Київ у темні години ночі.

 

Від імені Його Високопреосвященства Митрополита Антонія, разом із Собором єпископів, духовенством та всією вірною паствою нашої Святої Церкви, висловлюю глибокі та молитовні співчуття отцю Георгію, його родині та всім, хто сумує за цією немислимою втратою.

 

Ця жорстока та несправедлива війна продовжує забирати життя наших людей - наших матерів, наших дітей, наших братів і сестер. Біль, який ми відчуваємо сьогодні, безпрецедентний, оскільки він пронизує серце не лише однієї родини, а й усього Тіла Христового. Втрата Ірини та її сина Георгія — це не просто особисте горе, це рана на душі нашої Церкви, крик, що лунає від самого Хреста нашого Спасителя.

 

І все ж, у глибині нашого горя, ми тримаємося надії на Воскресіння, бо наш Господь смертю смерть подолав. Хоча ми сумуємо, ми не переможені, бо Христос відчинив ворота Раю тим, хто покладає на Нього свою довіру.

 

До вас, дорогий отче Георгію, та до вашої скорботної родини ми простягаємо наші обійми в любові, молитві та солідарності. Ви не самотні в цих стражданнях. Ваші сльози - це наші сльози, ваша втрата - це наша втрата, і ваша надія має бути нашою надією. Свята Церква з вами, як і Матір Божа, яка знає біль втрати Сина, і чий святий покров тепер приховує душі вашої сестри та її сина.

 

Нехай Всемилостивий Господь, що приймає душі праведників, обійме Ірину та вашого племінника Георгія у небесному світлі Свого Царства, де немає ні смутку, ні зітхання, але життя вічне. І нехай дарує силу та втіху їхнім близьким, що залишилися в живих.

 

Як Церква Христова, на коліна в молитві, взиваємо разом з Псалмоспівцем: «Дорога в очах Господа смерть святих Його» (Псалом 116:15), і не перестанемо промовляємо: «Вічна пам’ять!»
