Later in the day the entire delegation of the UOC of the USA traveled to the suburbs of Kyiv in order to visit a charitable center – LOGOS, which hosts about 180 refugees from Alchevsk, Luhansk Region and Donbas area. The center itself is organized and cared for by Fr. Mykola Ilnystky, who closely works with the Consistory Office of Christian Charity and St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Orthodox Society of the UOC of the USA. In the past year, the LOGOS center benefitted from the generosity of the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, who provided critical humanitarian aid to the victims of the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Metropolitan Antony and the delegation of the Church closely examined the living quarters of various families that reside in the center, at times 25 people in each room. Speaking with the children of the refugees, His Grace Bishop Daniel through prayer and short educational games was able to touch the basic precepts of Orthodoxy with some 50 children in residence.

Tasting the shredded cabbage, which was being prepared for the evening meal, the delegation of the Church learned about the ministry of LOGOS center, which besides a place of residence provides three daily meals to all residents and visitors - free of charge.

In conclusion of the visit, His Eminence Metropolitan Antony presented an additional gift of $2,000, which completes the pledge of $10,000 to the needs of the refugees of LOGOS Center.

Following the visit to the charitable center, the members of the delegation of the UOC of the USA paid a visit to a local homeless shelter on the outskirts of Kyiv, which provides simple living conditions and daily meals to numerous people in need of care, assistance and love. Once again, the homeless shelter is organized and cared for by the charitable efforts of Very Rev. Talking to the homeless residents of the tent, the delegation learned at length about the daily struggles of life of numerous visitors and residents of the center. As a side note, the tent also provides home to about five cats that share the same roof with about five people that found temporary home for the winter season.

The day concluded in prayer, led by Metropolitan Antony and Bishop Daniel in Ukrainian and English languages, for the residents, care providers and donors of LOGOS center and homeless shelter.
