Family Festival 2013

Sun, Fun and Fellowship! What a great Labor Day Weekend at All Saints Camp for the Annual Family Fest Weekend. Family Fest brought family and friends from near and far for a weekend full of relaxation and fellowship.

Friday evening everyone arrived and was welcomed with dinner and conversation. Later in the evening the kids enjoyed watching a movie in the Pavilion. The weather was beautiful and allowed for many activities to be enjoyed at the camp. After Saturday Morning Prayers, and breakfast, the annual “Kickball Game” with various levels of “rough and tumble” for ALL ages commenced. Even though there was a winning team (maybe) everyone enjoys playing and cheering for everyone. The afternoon allowed for free time, swimming or sports. Fr. Paisius McGrath served Vespers and blessed an icon of St. Constantine for the Clergy cabin. Next, the first round of men vs. women of the “Name Game” was conducted. The Name Game is a battle of how many people do you know with these initials?! B-I-N-G-O! Bingo was held under the stars at the Pavilion this year with everyone attempting to win a Bingo prize.

Divine Liturgy was held at St. Thomas Chapel on Sunday morning. The service was conducted by Fr. John Nakonachny, Fr. John Haluszczak and Fr. Deacon Jim Cairns. A large and delicious brunch was served in the Dining Hall prepared by our kitchen staff. Swimming, volleyball, relaxation and a Memorial Church service filled the afternoon. After the Memorial Service, Family Fest guests were greeted to a special treat at the Pavilion. Lights, candles and music brought everyone up the hill to dinner. The Pavilion was decorated and tables were set to a Western Theme. A FANSTASTIC meal was prepared by Deacon Jim Cairns and our kitchen staff headed up by Genya. We were treated to appetizers and punch followed by the Deacons’ famous “chicken” and all the fixin’s to go with it from Genya. Apple crisp and a chocolate fountain with fruit and other treats for dessert. Various music and dancing requests played throughout the evening which also included round two of the Name Game. It was a wonderful evening under the stars!

Monday morning after Morning Prayers and breakfast, everyone cleaned up, said their good-byes and packed for their ride home. The drawing for the ASC Summer Raffle of the decorated Ostrich Pysanka was held and the winner was Karen Sheptak! We thank everyone for their support of the raffle which brought in $455 towards the SOS Project for tables and chair for the camp.

We were glad to see over 85 participants for the weekend and we hope to see you next year! Plans are already underway for events and especially the Sunday evening dinner…. Beach Party??? Thank you to everyone who came and helped out in ANY way to Family Fest. Your support and presence were truly appreciated! See YOU Labor Day Weekend 2014!
