As sunny and warm spring worked diligently to beautify the surroundings with its magnificent colors, the celebration of the Feast of Feasts - Pascha continued. On Monday, May 6, 2013 His Grace Bishop Daniel, the Ruling Hierarch of the Western Eparchy led the faithful of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Parish in Palos Park, IL in the celebration of the Second Day of Resurrection, “Bright Monday.”

It was truly a gorgeous, sun filled bright day. Even though, it was a week day, a day to come back to work after the Paschal Sunday, good number of parishioners, came to participate in the Divine Liturgy and to listen to His Grace Bishop Daniel’s Archpastoral guidance and to experience his pastoral love. His Grace spoke from the heart about the recent events that have taken place in our lives: the celebration of Resurrection, as well as about the tragedies that have shaken up our country and the whole world. He has provided guidance on how we as Christians, should respond. He taught that the Celebration of Pascha should be taken in its full context and incorporated into our daily lives. Through the Resurrection, Christ has overcome evil. He has brought light into the world. …The light, which we should receive and share with each other by spreading it all over the world.

The Divine Liturgy was followed by delicious lunch at the Rectory, prepared by Pani-Matka Olenka Sendeha. Later in the day, Bishop Daniel recorder Pascha greetings at the local radio stations of Chicago Metropolitan area, greeting Ukrainian Orthodox Christians and those that observe Pascha according to the Orthodox Paschalia, with the Bright Feast of Resurrection of Christ.

On May 7, “Bright Tuesday” restless Bishop Daniel continued celebrating Paschal Season with the Clergy of Chicago Deanery at Holy Archangel Michael Ukrainian Orthodox Pro-Cathedral in Hammond, IN. His Grace was assisted at the service by Pastor of St. Michael’s Parish Fr. Raymond Sundland,  Fr. Vasyl Dmytryshyn of St. Sophia Seminary and Fr. Vasyl Sendeha, Pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Palos Park, IL.  The parish community of St. Michael was joined by quite a few of parishioners from the neighboring Sts. Peter and Paul Parish. Ones again, the warm spring air bursting with the powerful aroma of blooming trees and flowers was filled with laud and joys “Christ is Risen!” It felt great, it felt spiritually uplifting… It truly felt that Christ has Risen from the dead and has overcome evil.

After the Divine Liturgy, the celebrants and the participating faithful shared in a brunch prepared by the women of the parish.

Following the luncheon, Bishop Daniel, saying numerous “good byes” left for New Jersey.
