Families arrived Monday afternoon and began the week with evening prayers and dinner, followed by craft time. Despite warnings of high heat and humidity for Tuesday morning, everyone participated in the annual Prayer Trail walk and all were pleasantly greeted by comfortable temperatures and shade. On Wednesday and Thursday mornings the children had class and craft time which focused on the theme of “Ready to Follow.” The children decorated bags and filled them with things to help them become good followers of Christ. Their kits included a prayer rope, container to collect money for those in need and bird houses to care for nature. After learning how deacons in the early church helped the disciples care for those who were sick or shut in, the children made icon cards and greeting cards to send to others who are in need of a kind word. Parents participated in question and answer sessions with V. Rev. Fr. Taras Naumenko and Rev. Fr. Anthony Perkins.
Participants enjoyed free time in the afternoons at the pool, in the cabins and on the playground. In the evenings there was time for family crafts, Ukrainian and Greek dance lessons, singing, and two campfires. On Wednesday, parents enjoyed the annual favorite, “Parents’ Night Out,” at the pool.
