This book presents selected writings of the contemporary Greek icon painter Fotis Kontoglous on the sacred Arts according to the Tradition of Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Although there are brief chapters on Byzantine architecture, hymnody and related arts, emphasis is placed upon wa; paintings, panel icons, and mosaics. The book will be of particular value to those interested in religious art and in understanding the premises of Byzantine sacred art.
